Dr. Ian Salas Receives the 2015 Take Stock Hero Award

Dr. Ian Salas has been awarded the 2015 Take Stock Hero Award from the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition. Dr. Salas is the Research Economist at the Gates Institute and an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where the Gates Institute is based.

John Townsend, the new Chair of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC), presented Dr. Salas with the award on October 9 in Oslo, Norway, during the RHSC General Membership Meeting.

RHSC created the Take Stock Awards to recognize individuals and RHSC member organizations working effectively to end stockouts of reproductive health supplies. The awards are designed to inspire the community with examples of individuals and organizations moving us closer to a world with #noemptyshelves!

The Take Stock Hero Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to reducing stockouts on a global, regional, country or local level. Dr. Salas is recognized for his pioneering research demonstrating that stockouts of contraceptives led to increases in unintended pregnancies, especially among poor, rural and low-educated women.

Congratulations, Dr. Salas!
