Carolina Salmeron supports day-to-day programmatic elements at the Gates Institute. She provides technical expertise, project coordination, communication, and event planning support across all major projects. Carolina received her bachelors in biology from Texas A&M University and spent the next 5 years working in research and academia. She has contributed several scientific publications in the field of cancer biology and brings expertise both in research and technical writing. She received her Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she specialized in global health and humanitarian assistance. While at JHSPH, Carolina further honed her leadership skills as Vice President of the Latino Public Health Network, and spearheading work on an updated health report of the Baltimore Latino Community. Carolina has a passion for humanitarian work and has years of experience working with youth, particularly migrants and refugees. She is interested in the implementation of youth sensitive sexual and reproductive health programming in humanitarian contexts and hopes to contribute to bridging the gap concerning family planning in the humanitarian assistance field.
